It’s National Pizza Day! Don’t worry if you get a little sauce on your shirt (or table cloth, or floor, etc) while you are enjoying a few slices of your favorite ‘za—we have just the tips for getting things clean.
Clothing
- Remove as much of the excess sauce as possible. We suggest using a butter knife to help grab the sauce easily without ruining your clothing.
- Run the garment under cold water. Good Housekeeping recommends running the water through the BACK of the stain to keep it from getting deeper into the fabric.
- Rub stain with liquid laundry detergent or soap. If your garment is white, you may also consider using an eco-friendly bleaching solution of either hydrogen peroxide or white vinegar.
- Continue adding the detergent and/or bleaching solution until the stain is gone.
- Launder as usual, doing a quick double-check to make sure the stain is gone before you toss the garment into the dryer.
Upholstery or Carpet Cleaning
- Remove as much of the excess sauce as possible. Once again, use a butter knife to help grab the sauce easily without ruining your fabric.
- Using a clean sponge, blot the stain with a solution of two cups cool water and one tablespoon of dishwashing liquid. Use a dry cloth to alternately blot the stain dry.
- Continue to blot with sponge and dry cloth until stain is gone.
- If possible, KidSpot suggests moving the furniture or rug into the sun “to allow the UV rays to break down the stain.”
