Feel free to take your dog for an extra spin around the park today—it’s National Walk Your Dog Day! But, before you head back into the house, here are three ways to help you keep your dog’s paws clean, keeping him healthy and your house dirt-free!
Create a cleaning station
Keeping a shallow container of water near your door is the easiest way to clean your dog’s paws before he or she tracks dirt throughout the house. When you come inside, dip each paw into the water, one at a time, and then wipe them down with a towel. This will loosen up the mud or other particles that have gotten on their fur or stuck between their toes. You can also invest in a “Paw Plunger”. We talk about it here.
Use eco-friendly pet wipes
There are a variety of options that are usually plant based and chemical free, giving you a quick, easy, and natural way to remove dirt or other debris from your furry friend’s feet. You can find numerous options from Chewy.com.
Invest in a dog glove or mitt
Believe it or not, there are several different kinds of dog gloves that are made specifically for removing dirt, mud, or other particles from your dog’s body. Simply use the glove to wipe down the pads of their feet and in between their nails, and you should be able to remove most or all of the debris. Then, simply throw the glove into the washer whenever you feel the need. We like this Paw Cleaning Mitt from SimplyGoodStuff.com.
